Portable Blender: Rapid Design Improvement

In the Fall of 2023, I was engaged by consumer-appliance startup BLENDi for an urgent project addressing recurrent hardware malfunctions reported by end users on their portable battery-powered blenders. The company needed swift root-cause analysis along with corrective design changes to mitigate safety risks and avoid a potential product recall.

Based on design documentation and end-user reports, I diagnosed the underlying hardware issues within a few days. Over another 1-2 weeks, working with the startup’s leadership and their manufacturing partner, I honed a set of design improvements for their manufacturing partner to implement. These improvements were then successfully incorporated within the next production cycle, thus preserving end-user safety and maintaining business continuity.
