Smart Touchless Hand-Sanitizer Dispenser

At Odic, I worked with Vaask to develop the next generation of Vaask’s smart hand-sanitizer dispenser. As the electrical hardware lead on this project, I was tasked with optimizing the existing design for cost and battery life.

I was able to replace several specialty components while still replicating the functionality of the current-gen accurately, using more economical off-the-shelf components in combination with new firmware I developed.

I also developed a spreadsheet tool to track battery consumption in the system, as a function of each active component’s mode and duty cycle. I then worked against the tool, in concert with an embedded developer, to refine the firmware so that time-averaged battery drain from each subsystem was brought to an absolute minimum.
